Why Shea Butter?
Shea butter is useful for both skin and hair because it is naturally rich in fatty acids and works mainly as an emollient and moisture barrier. It softens rough areas, reduces water loss from the skin, and helps skin feel smoother and less dry.
For newborns, plain, fragrance-free shea butter can be helpful on dry or peeling skin because it adds a protective layer without needing a lot of ingredients. A tiny amount can also be used on a dry scalp to help soften flaky skin. For babies, keep the formula simple with our Raw Shea Butter with no essential oils or added fragrance and avoid the eyes, mouth, broken skin, and the healing umbilical cord area. If a baby has eczema, a rash, or persistent irritation, it’s better to check with the pediatrician first.
For adults, shea butter is especially good for dry skin, elbows, knees, hands, feet, and lips because it helps lock in moisture and improve softness. On hair, it can help coat and condition the strands, reduce dryness and friction, and make curly, coily, or textured hair feel softer and easier to manage. It may also help a dry scalp feel more comfortable, but it should not be marketed as a treatment for hair loss or as something that makes hair grow.

For Hair: Always apply shea butter to damp, freshly washed hair. Because it is a sealant, putting it on completely dry hair will trap the dryness instead of the moisture
For Babies: While shea butter is hypoallergenic and safe for individuals with nut allergies (as it contains minimal nut proteins), you should always conduct a 24-hour patch test on a tiny area of the inner arm before applying it all over a newborn
Anti-Aging & Repair: Packed with Vitamins A and E, shea butter functions as a potent antioxidant. It combats free radicals, speeds up scar healing, protects against harsh weather (like dry harmattan or winter winds), and helps maintain skin elasticity.
